Bariatric surgery has proven to achieve greater weight loss than non-surgical management and has proven to maintain it in the long term. One of the main factors to be considered in the treatment is the nutrition management -Both pre operative and post-surgical care. Also, proper screening for nutrient deficiencies pre- and post-surgery is utmost essential. Therefore, is a need for understanding the causative and risk factors, medical nutrition therapy, types of surgery and the pre and post-surgery guidelines with medical nutrition therapy to manage obesity related complications A nutrition counsellor helps clients (i.e. patients, individuals, residents, groups, and children) develop healthy eating habits.

Post Graduate/Professional Diploma in Bariatric Nutrition, you may encourage healthy nutrition by speaking to the public about healthy foods, nutrition, and the relationship between healthy eating habits, and poor eating habits and overall lifestyle. This credential implies that you have achieved an advanced level of expertise and experience in the field.

Eligibility

Any graduate/ B.tech/ B.Sc. in Microbiology/ Life Sciences/ Botany/ Zoology/ Food Science/ Food Technology/ BE/ B.Pharma/ MBBS/ BDS/ BHMS/ BUMS/ BAMS or any other discipline/ candidates with relevant work experience are eligible to apply for this certification.

Programme Duration

The duration to complete this programme is 1 year (Post Graduate Diploma), 6 months (Professional Diploma).

Programme Deliverables

All the participants are expected to appear for online assessment. After successfully qualifying the examination, the participants will be awarded the certification of Post Graduate/Professional Diploma in Bariatric Nutrition by Centre for Nutrition and Dietetics Studies(CNDS), IGMPI.
