What is CEP?

Continuing Education Programme is a specific way of educating the people to develop competence and learn about new and developing areas of their field. Content for these programmmes is developed, reviewed, and delivered by faculty who are experts in their individual areas. As technology and concepts continues to evolve it is important for professionals to show employers that their skills, knowledge and credentials are current with industry developments.

Eminent and dynamic industrial professionals having rich industrial experience of over 35-40 years have got associated with IGMPI in continuing education programme as faculty members. The industrial professionals who have joined IGMPI in this initiative have worked in reputed pharmaceutical companies like Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd, Cadila Pharma Ltd, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Quintiles, IPCA, Cipla etc.

Objectives of CEP

1 Capacity building among the working professionals in the industry by widening their knowledge base, improving their skills and attitudes for performing their work more efficiently and effectively.

2 To assist the industry to be globally competitive with the current regulations and issues and be at the cutting edge of technology by providing training and expertise in critical areas.

3 To promote knowledge dissemination through strong industry-institution interaction as “When outcome matters, wise integration of knowledge and technology becomes essential to promote best results”

Programmes offered in CEP

1 Programmes on topics such as GMP, QA/QC, Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Research are conducted inviting participation from industries and other organizations.

2 Programmes are typically designed in comprehensive manner keeping in mind the industry and organization expectations for 2-5 days duration

3 Programmes are either conducted onsite all over the country or at IGMPI's New Delhi Campus in the form of interactive lectures, workshops and conferences.The training materials developed by the Institute are also provided at the end of each session.

IGMPI's Stride: Continuing Education Programme at Merck Life Science, Bangalore

IGMPI Continuing Education Programme (CEP) at Merck Life Science, Bangalore delivered by Mr. Vinod Arora (Principal Advisor, IGMPI)

The challenge for the pharmaceutical industries is to get speedy approvals with cost effective drugs. Wise integration of technology and Knowledge is required so as to reach the pinnacle of healthcare sector. We here in IGMPI make this possible through Continuing Education Programme (CEP) conducted time and again. Continuing Education Programme is a specific way of educating the people to develop competence and learn about new and developing areas of their field and is developed, reviewed, and delivered by faculty who are experts in their individual areas.

This event (CEP) witnessed a spectacular start as it was planned at Merck Life Science, Ring Road, Bangalore (India) hosted jointly by IGMPI and Merck Life Science.Merck Life Science is the leading life science company in the country and it was incorporated in 1986 as a joint venture with Millipore Corporation, USA and became a 100% subsidiary of Millipore Corporation in 2009. Millipore was acquired by Merck Chemicals in 2010, March.

Capacity building among the Working Professionals, Assistance to Industry to be globally competitive and Promotion of knowledge dissemination through Industry Institute interaction are some of the primary objectives of Continuing Education Programme (CEP).
An integral part of employee centered policies is thrust on their knowledge upgradation which is expressed in form of number of participants. Approximate 24 participants from different departments like QA/QC, Production and Supply Chain Management attended the programme with the aim of understanding the basics of cGMP. Principal Advisor and former Vice President Sun Pharma Industries Mr. Vinod Arora set the workshop in a national as well as international context. The workshop programme included registration of participants, distribution of IGMPI Kits and series of presentations about initiatives of IGMPI and concept of cGMP for biologicals.

The theme of the CEP 2015 was "cGMP compliance for manufacturing of biologics". Mr. Abhik Dutta (Plant Head, Merck Life Science) accompanied by Mr. Vinod Arora (Principal Advisor IGMPI) delivered the welcome address. This was an intensive training on hardcore GMP for Biololgics. Mr. Arora explained the concept and importance of cGMP, six quality inspection model for cGMP, FDA observation trends, WHO GMP for Biologicals and cGMP from US perspectives. He emphasized that GMP is an important element of Quality Assurance which ensures that products are consistently produced and controlled to the quality standards appropriate to their intended use. He stressed on Current Good Manufacturing practices and congratulated the organizers for choosing the relevant theme.

Session ended with the questions and answers session. Thrust of participants to gain vast knowledge in this area revealed during question and answers session. At the end of the session and after necessary assessment, the participants were awarded the participation certificates by Institute of Good Manufacturing Practices India (IGMPI). Mr. Vinod Arora proposed the vote of thanks and expressed the desire to have such sessions repeatedly as success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.
