Ground beef products sold at Walmarts nationwide recalled over E. coli contamination

Cargill Meat Solutions, based in Hazleton, PA, is recalling approximately 16,243 pounds of raw ground beef products due to potential contamination with E. coli O157:H7, as announced by the  USDA FSIS (U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service). The establishment notified FSIS of the issue after discovering that previously segregated product had been inadvertently used in ground beef production.

These recalled items were distributed to Walmart retail locations nationwide, raising concerns that some may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. The affected raw ground beef products were produced on April 26-27, 2024.

The recalled products include various plastic-wrapped trays with specific lot codes and establishment number “EST. 86P” printed on the label. These products bear the USDA mark of inspection on the front.

No confirmed reports of adverse reactions related to these products have been received thus far. However, consumers are advised not to consume them and to either discard the products or return them to the place of purchase. If any concerns about illness arise, individuals should seek advice from a healthcare provider.
